In the context of its missions, CINES, thanks to its expertise, has become a known actor of the European scientific community. This is the case for both its activities of long term preservation and intensive computing. CINES participates in different workgroups and projects.
High performance computing
PRACE
the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe– research infrastructure offers world class computing and data management resources and services open to all European public research through a peer review process. CINES is involved since 2008.
HPC Europa 2
The main objective of HPC-Europa2 was to provide a high-quality service for transnational access to the advanced HPC systems available in Europe.

Alliance for Permanent Access – APARSEN
- European initiative for coordinating and setting up an infrastructure for long term preservation of scientific data. CINES, member of APA, takes part in the European project APARSEN (Alliance Permanent Access to the Records of science in Europe Network). This project relies on a network of experts for long term preservation and the installation of a virtual excellence center. CINES has worked on the ISO 16363 standard which was published in 2012.
EUDAT :European Data Infrastructure
- European project which aims at setting up a grid for preservation of scientific data. It consists in defining the good practices of long term preservation of scientific data, and in setting up a distributed infrastructure answering the needs of the communities of researchers.
CINES is member of Data Seal of Approval DSAsince 2009 (it received its habilitation in 2011, repeated in 2015).
