Business process Managment

Long term preservation PAC service is currently at the heart of a dynamic of continuous improvement of the quality of its services and of the transparency on archival activities. An approach of business process management formalization has been undertaken within the PAC (long term preservation service) at CINES.

CINES went beyond the mere mapping of business processes: ensuring the uniqueness of the objects represented in the diagrams provided, this approach is similar to the modeling process. This work thus allows archiving CINES team to have more than a simple documentation of its activity: it can monitor the consistency of its information system, monitor and manage its performance and make self- evaluations.

This page presents the main concepts and definitions used: it also identifies the main documents on the issue.

The documentation on line consists of:

  • Graphical representations of processes (series between objects) for Long term preservation at CINES;
  • Sheets features: all the objects represented in the maps have a unique identifier and are described in tables called ’features sheets’.

The CINES approach has been presented at the IPRES2010 conference on digital preservation. The paper is available in english at : http://www.ifs.tuwien.ac.at/dp/ipre…
